Dear Friends of Labuan,

They say that for every grey cloud, there is a silver lining. So as the pandemic enters its second wave in Malaysia, for us in Labuan IBFC the silver lining is definitely the re-appointment of Datuk Danial Mah Abdullah’s tenure as Director General, Labuan Financial Services Authority. DG Danial has been and will continue to be the driving force of the jurisdiction, and we look forward to his continued visionary leadership. Congratulations DG Danial!

As you may be aware, we are hosting a virtual edition of the Asian Captive Conference 2020 #ACC2020 and are pleased to announce that ACC2020 has been woven into PARIMA’s Resilience Week, which will showcase risk and reinsurance related discussions amongst global industry leaders. I am also happy to share that Labuan IBFC’s COVID-19 Fund, recently donated a Cepheid GeneXpert Machine and the test kits for the use of COVID-19 testing, as well as 70 hospital beds and other equipment to the Labuan Hospital. A heartfelt thanks to our players and licensees, your generosity has definitely made a positive impact to the people in Labuan.

Last but not least, I wanted to end on another hopeful note by highlighting how a Labuan entity Rayont International (L) is playing a key role in the global fight against cancer. Their solution Photo Dynamic Therapy which is currently undergoing human trials aims to fight cancer cells in a non-immunosuppressive manner – read more about it here.
