  • Farah Jaafar

    Farah is the Chief Executive Officer of Labuan IBFC Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Labuan Financial Services Authority, the statutory Regulatory Authority for Labuan International Business and Financial Centre, operating under the purview of Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. Labuan IBFC Incorporated serves as the jurisdiction’s official market development agency.

    A seasoned strategic communication, market development and financial services professional, she brings with her experience spanning more than 25 years in wholesale financial services, putting her in good stead to develop Labuan IBFC as Asia’s go-to mid-shore wholesale financial intermediation centre.

    Formerly attached to the Asian Institute of Finance and Bursa Malaysia (Malaysia’s national stock exchange), Farah has served in numerous senior market development and strategic communications roles.

    She has also represented the Association of Stock Broking Companies Malaysia, a nationwide industry led lobby group representing Malaysian stockbrokers during the demutualisation exercise of the national exchange, allowing her a unique hands-on experience surrounding high strategic level issues relating to multiple stakeholder management, eco-system curation and long-term strategic business strategy.

    Passionate about equality, financial inclusion and win-win partnerships, she strongly believes that “a rising tide lifts all boats”. Farah has an LLB (Hons) from Sheffield University, United Kingdom.

  • Aurobindo Ponniah

    Aurobindo has over 25 years of experience in tax consulting, research, training and policy initiatives for multinational enterprises (“MNEs”) and tax authorities. His focus is primarily on consulting assignments in the multinational enterprise and Government space. His client portfolio includes companies in the energy and power industries, utilities and telecommunications.

    His experience includes corporate tax planning, restructuring exercises, tax audits and investigations. He has worked with various MNEs and tax authorities on issues involving tax treaties, permanent establishments, cross border transactions, anti-abuse provisions, etc.

    He has also worked extensively with authorities in the Asia-Pacific region including the Malaysian Ministry of Finance, Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRB), Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation and Labuan Financial Services Authority on the development of tax policies and legislation.

  • Jennifer Chang

    Jennifer is presently a Partner who heads the Financial Services Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers Taxation Services Sdn Bhd. She also functions as the Islamic Finance Tax Leader for PwC in Asia.

    Jennifer has extensive tax experience of nearly 30 years both in Malaysia and Australia. Her experience in Malaysia includes advising clients on tax matters relating to income tax, real property gains tax, stamp duty, service tax, applicable tax incentives and double tax treaties. She has also been extensively involved in numerous financial services and property clients and assignments as well as structured finance, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring.

    Jennifer speaks regularly at public seminars on taxation of the financial services industry including property sector, Islamic banking, asset backed securitisation, International Tax, Labuan, etc.
