Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) on 25 February 2015 issued revised guidelines on work permit applications in Labuan International Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC) for licensed and non-licensed entities, which came into effect on 1 March 2015.
The purpose of the revised guidelines is to facilitate the application of work permits for expatriates working for licensed and non-licensed entities in Labuan IBFC by specifying the eligibility criteria and application, operational and compliance requirements. A statutory declaration in relation to a work permit application is also attached in the guidelines’ appendix.
Additionally, a clarification note was issued by Labuan FSA on 13 March 2015, which further clarifies several requirements and provides for a transitional period for existing work permit holders, among others.
With the issuance of the revised guidelines, the following policy documents have been superseded:
- Circular on Applications for Work Permit for Expatriates Working in Labuan Companies issued on 2 June 2010 (Circular No. 109/2010/ALTC)
- Circular on Applications for Work Permit for Expatriates Working in Labuan Companies issued on 6 July 2011 (Circular No. 124/2011/ALTC)
- Guidelines on Work Permit Applications in Labuan IBFC issued on 6 July 2011, and
- Circular on Clarification of the Guidelines on Work Permit Application in Labuan IBFC issued on 15 July 2011 (Circular No. 126/2011/ALL)
