Chua Wei Min is Director of ZICO Trust Limited. She specialises in the areas of trusts and foundations and legal and regulatory compliance on activities carried out at Labuan IBFC.
She is a consultant with the ZICOlaw network of ASEAN law firms and related services which regional hub is in Singapore and member firms and other associated service providers are in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, Yangon, Vientiane, Melbourne and Sydney.
She advises on Labuan trusts and foundations for both commercial and private use. This includes corporate trust advisory for restructuring purposes and the use of orphan trusts for sale and leaseback and asset securitisation transactions, and private trust and foundation set ups for family wealth and estate planning.
Wei Min was one of the lead external consultants in the law reform exercise undertaken by the Labuan Financial Services Authority in 2007 to revamp the regulatory framework of Labuan IBFC which translated into 8 new and revised Labuan acts in February 2010. As a key member of the network’s Labuan legal practice, she advises extensively on the use of Labuan entities as a tax-efficient vehicle for asset holding, tax planning and private wealth management purposes. She also advises on regulatory compliance issues on financial activities in the Labuan IBFC as well as the establishment of private equity funds in Labuan.
Wei Min speaks Mandarin fluently. She is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a committee member of STEP Malaysia.
